The North Star Circuit Solo & Ensemble contest is an opportunity for student
performers to showcase their talents by choreographing their own show to the
music of their choice. All choreography is written by the student performers.
This year there are six divisions of competition:
• Solo Flag
• Solo Weapon
• Solo Mixed (flag & weapon)
• Duet (any equipment)
• Ensemble (any equipment)
Performance Rules:
• Shows should be no longer than 3 minutes.
• Circuit will provide CD/cassette player.
• The stage is a regular size gym floor.
• Profane or rude lyrics are not allowed.
• Inappropriate attire/costumes will not be allowed.
• The performers must write the show, no circuit staff.
• An ensemble can be 3-8 people.
• Judges will give written commentary and scores. They will judge creativity,
coordination, difficulty and performance qualities of the program.
Admission for guests will be free. Show up to register at 6pm and order will be
chosen at that time. There will be an awards ceremony at the conclusion of the
contest.
